When it comes to roasting potatoes we believe there are just two magic ingredients to make the perfect roastie.

Littleseed Extra Virgin rapeseed oil and a bag of spuds.

Top tips for perfect roast potatoes

  1. Always use littleseed Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil for roasting. Heating an oil past its smoke point is never a good thing. Besides giving the food a burnt flavour and smell (that’s a substance called acrolein) it also releases harmful free radicals which can damage cells. The fantastic news is that littleseed can be heated to around 220C which is much higher than other cooking oils and fats. That means it’s perfect for making the crispiest and fluffiest roast potatoes around!

  2. Always shake your tatties. After par-boiling and draining your potatoes let the steam release from the pan for a little while then get that lid back on and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE!

    By fluffing up the outside of the potato you create more surface area to get nice and crispy.

  3. Always start with hot oil and a hot oven. You want your roasties to starts sizzling straight away ALWAYS preheat the oven and preheat your oil in the roasting tin before adding the spuds.

  4. Be gentle with them. Once your roast potatoes are in the oven take them out at regular intervals and GENTLY turn them in the oil to make sure they are golden and crisp all over!
